Toast: old friends!
It was a quiet day at work and I was antsy to leave. Today my new phone case was being delivered! I had cracked the old one on vacation and on a whim I ordered a new one on line. They ads for the place are on the radio a lot, so one day I just said what the heck and uploaded an old image.
This fellow! The old poster had him saying show dates. Like the Damn Yankee at 8:30. You know, I wish I had put my initials/year on those things like I do with most pieces. The posters all say things like 'this Thursday' and thus aren't very helpful as historical artifacts.
But I wasn't too sure that I wanted him talking about some show on the phone, so I had to change the text. But to what? I auditioned several catchphrase-y things but settled on an old lyric. "This is the part where I tell you about it". It seemed like it was about time Mickey Death did some explaining.
Anyhoo. By 3:30 or so I have had enough waiting. I checked FedEx's website. Imagine how crushed I was when it said that because I wasn't home they would retry next business day. Oh no! So far away! I drove home to see if I could track them down before business hours expired.
But they left it at the office, just like the should and the li'l sweetie was in my hands before five. I don't love the slick surface, but it came out pretty nice.
But I recognize that a twenty year old drawing isn't too great a testament. I need to produce more new stuff. I started looking around for weekly papers. It might be nice to pick up a freelance thing here and there again. And the Big D is pretty fertile ground for political comics and what not.
Maybe I can make something happen.
Ps- the wasps were also inside my grill. I foresee another showdown...
