Beverage: can of Diet Dr Pepper
Toast: smoke 'em if you got 'em
Went to the grocery store this morning and bought a bouquet of flowers. Thought I would see how my natural light shooting experiment would work for them. I conclude that I really need a sturdy tripod for this kind of work.
At this distance the depth of field, even up around f10 is wafer thin. Just the movement of my head can throw the focus off. Between the weight of the camera and the climbing heat, i was ready to go inside after 40 minutes of shooting.
Tripods aren't a perfect fit for my type of exploratory style, though. I like to look around and see how things look. I suppose I should use the live view instead of the viewfinder and it would mitigate some of that.
But this is also about building some photo muscles back up. This is manual focus and exposure. With the depth of field so thin, nodding your head back and forth just a little slips the focus around. It's an interesting interplay between focus and composition.
All this talk of focus and I show you soft stuff at f4. I will have to go back and snap some more later. Maybe I will add a flash.
Right now I need a sammich to go with this Dr Pepper.
Dad says: good work!
